Quote of the Week (Book Club Edition)

October 4, 2010 1 comment

One must never stop reading. Read everything that you can read, that is of standard knowledge. Don’t waste time reading trashy literature. The idea is that personal experience is not enough for a human to get all the useful knowledge of life, because the individual life it too short, so we must feed on the experience of others.

– Marcus Garvey

Alright, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything. Life is kind of crazy right now, but in a good way. I promised before that I would be making some changes and posting more. Although, I’m a little behind schedule I finally have had some time to make some updates to the site. Beginning with The Book Club, where you can find a list of some of my favorite books. Also, you can finally expect an update to About the Renaissance very soon! In the mean time, keep checking back because I will be moving ahead full steam this month.

Sidenote: Looks like I’ve reached 4,000 hits today. I’d like to thank everyone who has taken the time to visit The Truth Renaissance. The best is yet to come, I promise! Also, I saw “Social Network” last night and it was a great film. I definitely recommend it. Hope everyone has a safe and blessed week! Keep seeking the Truth.

Video: Nas Speaks on “Born To Use Mics”

Last week at the Bonnaroo Arts & Music Festival, Nas took some time out to speak on the book Born To Use Mics. The book breaks down Nas’ 1994 classic LP Illmatic track by track and if your a hip-hop head like myself, it is a must read (I actually used this book to preface my review of Drake’s Thank Me Later).

I’ve seen some footage of the Bonnaroo festival and it looked amazing. I don’t think anything is going to touch the Rock The Bells lineup this year though. Unfortunately I won’t be in attendance, but I’m going to try my best to make it next year.
