Video: Cornel West Talks Fashion

“I think style has to do with the ways of which you’re able to orient your critical intelligence, your spirituality, and your character…”

I’ve been holding on to this interview for a while, but better late then never right? Back in May, Cornel West sat down with Prepdemic Magazine to provide some insight on style and his sartorial influences.

Warning: The camera work is kind of wild on some of these videos.. you might have to look away a few times like I did lol.

What is Style?

Cornel West also discusses the relationship between clothing and style, why he has a uniform, and a piece by piece breakdown of what he is wearing. For the rest of the interview, click “Read more..”.

VISIONS OF VISIONARIES WITH JANELLE MONAE | MADE

November 10, 2010 Leave a comment

I’ve been holding onto this interview for a few months now and had it bookmarked to post for everyone. This is a great introspective interview with the brilliant and talented Janelle Monae. If you don’t have her album The ArchAndroid yet, please pick it up asap! It’s easily one of the best albums released this year. She takes you on a journey through her music and unlike most artists these days isn’t afraid to challenge listeners with something new.

Video: Nas Speaks on “Born To Use Mics”

Last week at the Bonnaroo Arts & Music Festival, Nas took some time out to speak on the book Born To Use Mics. The book breaks down Nas’ 1994 classic LP Illmatic track by track and if your a hip-hop head like myself, it is a must read (I actually used this book to preface my review of Drake’s Thank Me Later).

I’ve seen some footage of the Bonnaroo festival and it looked amazing. I don’t think anything is going to touch the Rock The Bells lineup this year though. Unfortunately I won’t be in attendance, but I’m going to try my best to make it next year.
