A Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime (God’s Providence)

October 16, 2010 Leave a comment
I’m posting this because I’ve really come to accept and adopt this life lesson over the last few years. I’ve actually had it on the wall next to my desk for about 3 years. I’m sure many are already familiar with it, but I decided it’s worth revisiting. It’s a great example of God’s Providence too. The saying “everything happens for a reason” might be cliche, but God has a purpose for all of us. Through Him we can come to the realization of that purpose and make the most of every relationship we come into contact with.
A Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or
a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you
will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON . . . It is
usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have
come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you
with guidance and support, to aid you physically,
emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a
godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason
you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an
inconvenient time, this person will say or do something
to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realise is that our need has been met, our
desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you
sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON . . .
Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount
of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things
you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional
foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the
person, and put what you have learned to use in all
other relationships and areas of your life. It is said
that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Quote of the Week: Celebration of Life Edition

August 10, 2010 1 comment

“The unexamined life is not worth living….” – Socrates

This weeks quote is inspired by the celebration of another year on this earth (i.e. my Birthday). I was blessed to figure out my purpose a few years ago. There are a lot of goals that I have accomplished, and God willing a lot more left to set and complete. Figuring out my purpose was the most important achievement by far because it lays the foundation for everything else in my life. We should all take the time to really examine ourselves in order to make this world of ours a better place. If you really want to see change it begins with each individual looking inward and making a CHOICE. We are all familiar with the scripture, “to whom much is given, much is required in return” (Luke 12:48). That not only applies to monetary and material things but also to the wisdom/knowledge we have acquired.

As Gandhi said, “be the change you want to see in the world”. You can apply this to all areas of life. Whether it be developing meaningful relationships with others, taking time out for personal development, or even something as simple as taking time to give thanks to God and to those around you.

We should never stop growing and education should be a life long pursuit. Never be afraid to question things and be able to give a defense for what you believe.

Last week my pastor said, “Too many people try to hold on to things they cannot keep, and reject what they cannot loose”. Don’t let life pass you by without taking the time to really think about your purpose and make a choice to seek Truth. Again I’m thankful for another year and I thank any and everyone for visiting The Truth Renaissance…..

Life is good, God is great!

This is the first post that I’ve actually written directly to the readers of my blog. I’m not sure how many people actually check my blog on the regular (obviously some people do according to my blog stats), but I thank you for the love. I haven’t been posting a lot lately because I have a lot on my plate right now, but what I’ve done since I started in February is just the beginning. I plan to go full steam  ahead with The Truth Renaissance beginning in September. To be honest, a lot of things on this blog are still incomplete.  However, expect a lot more album reviews, editorials, videos, social commentary,  articles of interest, everything music and fashion related, book suggestions, etc. Also, be on the look out for more information on what this Truth Renaissance is all about. Until then, check out the video and LASERS Manifesto below; it definitely serves as inspiration for where I’m taking this.

Sidenote: I began writing a review for the new Rick Ross album, but decided not to post it for numerous reasons. I might share my thoughts on it down the road in a different format. I have A LOT of great ideas that I’m going to be introducing down the road. Stay tuned!

Hope everyone is having a safe and blessed weekend. Keep seeking Truth.

The Soundtrack To My Life

March 30, 2010 Leave a comment

Music is my life. I eat, sleep, and breath it. So over the last couple of years I’ve been creating a soundtrack to my life. After a lot of thought I finally came up with songs that I feel define me. I have added and subtracted songs over the years and some have remained from the beginning. The track listing is in order, not from favorite to least favorite, but more like music that tells a story of my life from beginning to end.

The soundtrack touches on everything from love, to family, to faith, to songs dedicated to my wife and children.  I’m sure the list will change again at some point.

So take a look..if you havn’t heard some of the songs feel free to download them.

Track list after the jump…
