Video: Nas Speaks on “Born To Use Mics”

June 14, 2010 Leave a comment

Last week at the Bonnaroo Arts & Music Festival, Nas took some time out to speak on the book Born To Use Mics. The book breaks down Nas’ 1994 classic LP Illmatic track by track and if your a hip-hop head like myself, it is a must read (I actually used this book to preface my review of Drake’s Thank Me Later).

I’ve seen some footage of the Bonnaroo festival and it looked amazing. I don’t think anything is going to touch the Rock The Bells lineup this year though. Unfortunately I won’t be in attendance, but I’m going to try my best to make it next year.

Here’s Pt. 2 of Okayplayer’s interview with Lupe Fiasco. This time around he discusses his love for the Houston hip-hop scene (the inspiration for “Hip Hop Saved My Life”), his current feelings about the MTV Hottest MC list, and his new crew, All City Chess Club (See my post on Leaders of the New School). Look for the All City Chess Club collab on the I’m Beamin‘ remix.

In case you missed it, you can watch Part 1 here.

Interview: OkayplayerTV Talks To Lupe Pt. 1

One of my favorite blogs/sites Okayplayer sat down with Lupe Fiasco to discuss his new album Lasers, his music leaking, his love for fashion, and more.

A few months ago I heard him say that the album was done, but I saw an interview recently where he said he’s still working on it and has plans to release the album late summer/fall.
